The International Playgroup is located on the premises of The International Primary School (de Violenschool) which is located in central Hilversum in a wonderful old Dudok building.
Groups
We allow a maximum of 16 children per morning with one qualified teacher and one volunteer and/or helping parent. The playgroup is opened 40 weeks per year and observes the same holidays as the other primary schools in Hilversum.
Opening times are 5 mornings a week from 9.00 - 12.00 am. We allow children from the age of 2 to enter the playgroup starting with 2 mornings a week. When the children turn 2,5 we can offer the parents a third morning. The children leave the playgroup when they are 4 years old, to start primary school.
Activities
We encourage the children to develop their English language skills. Some children who start in the international playgroup have to learn the English language as a second or third language while others learn the English language as their mother tongue. We also encourage the children to be as independent as possible. We do that by following a daily routine and by creating a safe, fun, creative and stimulating environment where the children can play and learn together, but where they can also explore on their own.
The International Playgroup is very special to our parents, because most of them are from another country and reside in The Netherlands only on a temporary basis. It is not easy to settle in another country and therefore we find it very important to help and support eachother as much as possible. We can learn from eachother’s culture and experiences.
The teachers organize two Parents meetings per year, a couple of Decoration afternoons and a Summerparty. We also celebrate Christmas, Sinterklaas and Eastern together. The Playgroup staff is always available to you if you need any information.
